Frequently asked questions
Who needs to file a CT600?
Every UK limited company must file a CT600 Corporation Tax return with HMRC, even if the company made no profit or had no activity. This includes dormant companies.
What changes in April 2026?
From 1 April 2026, HMRC is closing its free online CT600 filing portal. All companies — including the 1M+ micro-entities who currently file for free — will need to use commercial software. Taxentis is built specifically for this transition.
What is a micro-entity?
A micro-entity is a company that meets at least two of: turnover ≤ £632,000, balance sheet total ≤ £316,000, and ≤ 10 employees. Most single-director limited companies qualify. Micro-entities can file simplified FRS 105 accounts.
How much does Taxentis CT600 filing cost?
From £15 per filing for dormant companies and £29 per filing for active companies — significantly cheaper than accountants (£300–£800+) and competitive with other CT600 software. We believe every micro-entity director should be able to file affordably.
Do I still need an accountant?
For straightforward micro-entity companies (freelancers, contractors, small businesses), Taxentis guides you through the entire process. For complex situations (multiple subsidiaries, group relief, R&D claims), we recommend consulting an accountant.
Is Taxentis HMRC-recognised software?
We're in the process of HMRC software recognition. By launch, Taxentis will be fully approved for CT600 electronic filing via the Government Gateway.
When is the deadline for filing my CT600?
Corporation Tax returns must be filed within 12 months of the end of your accounting period. For companies with a year ending 31 March 2025, the filing deadline is 31 March 2026. Late filing incurs automatic penalties starting at £100.
What information do I need to file a CT600?
You need your company registration number, Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR), Government Gateway login, profit and loss figures, and balance sheet figures. Taxentis walks you through each step.
